The Official Olympiad Competition (Scientific Olympiad students)

• The official Scientific Olympiad Competition is a completion for pre- university students, which aims to discover distinct and creativity cases among Olympiads specialties, currently in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics.
• New specialties may be added in applied or theoretical sciences.
• The commission shall issue an annual announcement which includes the Olympiad specialties and laws, conditions, mechanisms and dates of participation in the competition and the duration and nature of the tests.
• The contest is conducted through tests carried out in stages:
1. Stage one (schools level):
- All students of high school - first grade in all schools in the country shall apply to this stage of the tests in accordance to the laws and conditions included in the annual Olympiad announcement.
2. Stage two (Areas Level):
- Successful Students according to stage one testing results shall participate at this stage according to the number determined by the Council of Scientific Affairs.
3. Stage Three (Provinces level):
- Successful Students according to stage two testing results shall participate at this stage according to the number determined by the Council of Scientific Affairs.
4. Stage Four (Country level- Central tests):
- The central tests are conducted in a center determined by the Olympiad Administration; Successful Students according to stage three testing results shall participate at this stage according to the number determined by the Council of Scientific Affairs.
- The results of central tests lead to determine the national scientific teams of the five specialties, according to the number determined by the Council of Scientific Affairs.
• The questions and grading scale for all competition stages are prepared by the Central Scientific Committee.
• The conditions of complete confidentiality shall be applied in the tests at all stages, including hiding students’ names on the answer sheet. The questions are corrected immediately after tests and the names of the winners shall be announced immediately after the completion of the corrections which take place according to a detailed and accurate grading scale that include the questions at each specialty
• Students may not participate in more than one specialization in the competition.
• As to a special studying condition at the National Center for the distinguished, and the schools for high achievers in the provinces , their students participate at the completion starting from stage two (Areas level).The National Center for the distinguished is considered a region at this stage.
• The names of the winners will be announced at the end of the competition during a central ceremony of coronation and honor.

National Teams of Olympics

• Every year The National Science Team of the Science Olympiad at each specialty consists of students who got the first ranks at the official national scientific Olympiad competition tests (Country level- Central tests) according to the number determined by the Council of Scientific Affairs.(currently 10 students for each specialty)
• A student will remain as national scientific team member, as long he didn’t pass the specified age prescribed at the international participation regulations. And as long he is not registered in any of the educational institutions for university study inside or outside the country.

• National scientific teams consist of:
1. New Students:
- High school - First grade students, who got the first ranks at the official national scientific Olympiad competition tests (Country level- Central tests) for the year of the competition.
2. Old students:
- High school - Second grade students, who have spent a year of qualifying and training implemented by the Commission’s annual plans.
- High school - third grade, which have spent two years in the national scientific team.
• National teams students (High school - third grade – second year) as long he didn’t pass the specified age prescribed at the international participation regulations. And as long he is not registered in any of the educational institutions for university study inside or outside the country.
3. The additional class of students who joined the national teams according to the criteria determined by the Council of Scientific Affairs, including the criteria (standard test)
